Applying for an Australian Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) as an Indonesian in Malaysia – My Honest Experience
Hola, I’m back!
I’m
excited to share my experience applying for an Australian Visitor Visa
(Subclass 600) as an Indonesian living in Malaysia in 2024. If you’re planning
to do the same, this might help you~
We don’t
need to visit the Australian Embassy in Malaysia. Everything starts online
through ImmiAccount. Super convenient! However, since I applied from Malaysia, I still had to visit the VFS Global
office for biometrics (fingerprints and photo).
Why
biometrics?
Applicants in Malaysia are usually required to provide biometrics for visas
like the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) or ETA (Subclass 601). Interestingly, my
friends who applied from Indonesia didn’t need this step so it depends on where
you apply.
Here’s the quick flow I followed :
- Create an ImmiAccount at
immi.gov.au.
- Upload all required documents.
- Book an appointment at VFS for
biometrics.
- Wait for your visa result.
For full
details and official requirements, check the Australian Department of Home Affairs website.
Here are all documents
I submitted for my visa application online :
- Valid passport (at least 6
months validity)
- Malaysian Employment Pass (EP)
- Indonesian ID (KTP)
- Family certificate card
- Recent passport photo (45mm ×
35mm)
- Bank statements (last 3
months)
- Payslips (last 3 months)
- Employment letter + approved
leave
- Tax records (PCB & EA
forms in Malaysia)
- NPWP (Indonesian tax number)
- Flight tickets (round trip)
- Accommodation bookings
- Travel itinerary
- A rent agreement
After
lodging my application and paid around AUD 195, I received an email confirming it was submitted. A few
days later, they requested biometric data, so I booked an appointment at VFS
Kuala Lumpur and paid MYR 128. The process was quick, the photo and fingerprints done in minutes.
Then came
the waiting game... 14 days later, I got the email: Visa Granted! 😊💫
Even better, it was multiple entry for 1 year. I was so happy!
Applying for a visa with an Indonesian passport can feel intimidating and priceyyy at first (yes, a bit of a pain in the a$$ if you know what I mean😅), but trust me the Australian Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) process is doable! The online process makes it much easier, and once you get through biometrics, you’re almost there.
So, if you’re planning your Aussie adventure, start early, stay organized, and good luck! 👐
